First Baptist Church has a long and rich history which began in 1857 shortly after Topeka, Kansas was incorporated. Kansas became a state in January 29, 1861.
The photo on the right is the second church building that was built on the same corner of 9th & Jackson Streets.
First Baptist relocated to its present location, 3033 SW MacVicar Ave, in the late 1960s. It was dedicated in May of 1970. A gymnasium and additional classrooms were added in October of 2002.
It is affiliated with the American Baptist Church U.S.A. and the American Baptist Churches of the Central Region.
Currently, First Baptist supports four organizations.
