Pastor Nate has served three pastorates, but five churches.  At the age of 18, he began pastoral ministry at the Slate Valley Baptist Church in Oxford, Kan., and the Geuda Springs Community Church in Geuda Springs, Kan.  After this, Nate pastored in Clinton, Okla., at the Broadway Heights Baptist Church.  He also served as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Minneapolis, Kan., and the Antioch Baptist Church of Ada, Kan.  Prior to serving as Lead Pastor of First Baptist Church – Topeka, Pastor Nate was the Associate Executive Minister for the American Baptist Churches of the Central Region.

Pastor Nate earned his B.A. in Psychology and Biblical Studies from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, Texas.  He received a Master of Christian Leadership Studies degree, a Master of Religious Education degree, and a Master of Divinity degree from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Va.  Pastor Nate completed his doctoral work from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Shawnee, Kan., with a concentration in Congregational Health. In his research, Nate worked with the question, “What can be done to support pastoral retention within the first five years of ministry?”  From this research, Nate co-authored a book released September 2018 titled, “A Guide to Ministry Self-Care: Negotiating Today’s Challenges with Resilience and Grace.”

For fun, Pastor Nate enjoys woodworking projects, good jokes, lawn care (aka nice grass), exploring new places and spending time with his family.  He is married to Cosette who is an Elementary Teacher in Topeka, Kan.  Together the Marsh’s have two children, Shamonique (Nique), and Tyson (Tye), who joined their family through adoption.
